The Egg Drop Experiment.
M&M Stacking!
Last science lesson we were learning about the art of stone stacking. It looks very hard to stack stones and we even tried to do it on our own. We used some flat stones and it was very easy. But once we used M&M's it got very hard. If you have ever eaten M&M's before (doubt that you haven't) you have probably noticed that they are round not flat. Our elective best was 3 M&M's but not many people got to that. If you watch 7 Sharp you might have seen that the Guiness world record of stacking M&M's is 5. Yes. 5. The Maori All Blacks had a try at it but couldn't break the record and get a 6, but they did tie and get a 5. My best was two. It was very stressful to get the M&M's to stack, but the best part was eating the M&M's At the end.

Matariki Logo.
In Team Toroa we have been learning about Matariki. Matariki is the maori new year and people tell stories and have fun with family. It was recently Matariki. It was on July 2nd. You probably have heard this somewhere but next year in 2022, Matariki will be a holiday. So we will be able to stay home to celebrate with our families. Our task was to create a logo for next years holiday. I put the New Zealand flag and the 9 Matariki stars. I found it easy to think of my idea and to put it into slides using polyline. When we were on the mat on Friday and the teachers told us our instructions, I instantly thought of this. And it looked like how I saw it in my head. I found it hard to change my logo around and try different designs that would represent matariki. I originally was going to do the stars in the shape that matariki is in the sky, but then I would have to make everything else smaller so I put them around one big Matariki star. I enjoyed making this logo because I love to polyline. To me, any kind of polylining is fun and just doing art in general is fun. Next time I will get this done on a school day. Its Saturday as I'm writing this. So I guess I should stop talking to my friends and move away from distractions and just do my work.

Natural Disaster Survival Kit
In reading we have been learning about natural disasters and tsunamis. our create activity for reading was to make a survival kit for a natural disaster. I used my thinking and ideas from my persuasive writing that you can find somewhere on this blog. I found it easy to make my tems using the polyline tool, and to trace around images that were too hard to do on my own. I found it challenging to polyline my radio. I got something so simple to do and somehow make it so hard. I could of just made a brick with some buttons but instead I made a full on Sony radio, with a boombox speaker. I enjoyed learning about natural disasters and making this kit. Now I know how to be safe and how to be prepared for a dangerous disaster. Next time I will hand my mahi in on time, and spend less time making the picture look pretty.

Balloon Rockets!
Newton's first law of motion describes that every action has an equal and opposite reaction. We taped a balloon to a straw that was on a smooth piece of string. Be blew up the balloon and let go. The pressured air pushes the balloons along the string. We found out that if the balloon was smaller it was more aerodynamic and was faster along the string. If the balloon was trying to go up on an incline gravity would hold it back and it would just fall back down. Some of the balloons didn't even move. They just went a small distance then spun around the string.
To do this experiment you will need:
A Balloon.
A piece of smooth string, around 2m long.
Half a straw
Some tape
Cold Air Balloon!
When baking soda and vinegar mix, it makes something called an endothermic reaction. This makes carbon dioxide bubbles that can inflate a balloon. It also lowers the air temperature in the ballon, making it colder. If you feel the bottom of the ballon it will be much more colder than it was before. This is very easy to do. And you can even go do it now, you should have the ingredients in your kitchen.
To do this experiment you will need:
A balloon
One cup of vinegar
One tablespoon of baking soda
One funnel
One bottle
First you put one tablespoon of baking soda inside of your balloon using a funnel. Next you put your funnel on top of your bottle and put your one cup of vinegar in. Remember to wipe any excess baking soda off the funnel. Next you stretch the balloon on top of the nozzle of the bottle trying not to get any baking soda into the vinegar. Then once the balloon is stretched over the nozzle of the bottle tightly you can poor the baking soda in. And ABRAKADABRA the balloon should start to fill up with carbon dioxide!
Part 2:
We did a way bigger version of this last Wednesday. We did 4 cups of vinegar and 8 tablespoons of baking soda. It was quite tricky to get the baking soda into the ballon so that was the first problem. Then we had to stretch the balloon over the big nozzle of the milk bottle. When we tipped the balloon over the baking soda dropped into the vinegar. The reaction cause carbon dioxide bubbles like it should do, but then the liquid went up into the balloon! By now the balloon was kinda breaking and the liquid was spraying out of the bottle. I went and felt the vinegar and it was really cold because of the endothermic reaction.
Part 3:
We did and even bigger version of the cold air ballon. We got a super pump water bottle and filled it up. We didn't even measure how much ingredients we used. We used a jumbo balloon so it will fill up with lots of air. It didn't pop but it got very very big. We filled the balloon and the bottle up to the brim and chucked them together and it instantly started to react with the endothermic. We felt the balloon and it felt very tight and cold. I hope that we may be able to do a part 4 with a bigger bottle and bigger ingredients.

I Am Poem
We were learning about how to write a I AM POEM. An I am poem is about you and your interests. Like what you want and what you say. You describe these things about yourself bu sing adjectives or verbs or other descriptive language. I enjoyed polylining my face. I was originally going to do an old photo but this brand new photo was better. I don't really like doing %100 my facials so I ad a bit of cartoon in there. I found it easy to make the edge of my polylined face look like mine. I used the zoom tool to make it look like the edge of my head so it looks a little bit real. I found it challenging to think of my I am's. I left a few out because I don't do some of the things like pretend. But I changed a few because a few of them actually happened
